Definition of Reiki

I know from experience that there are so many Healing Techniques to choose from and if you are like me it is hard to know what is real and what is hocus-pocus.

It is my intention to give a complete definition of Reiki. Many therapies are commonplace now, such as chiropractic, acupuncture, and homeopathy. But there are many other types that are more esoteric and harder to describe. In addition to the definition of Reiki, I have used this technique in practice and know first hand that it works!

It is pronounced Ray-Key and refers to the energy of the Universal Life Force. Many years ago practitioners paid teachers $10,000 to learn the art of healing. Now the cost is nominal, but what you get in return is priceless.

It originated in Japan and is an ancient Japanese art of Hands On Healing, but it can be administered in person, by laying on hands, or long distance by sending healing thoughts. Either way is very effective.

By learning Reiki, you will be able to instantly relieve pain, speed up the healing of a loved one or beloved pet. It is also used to heal past trauma or relationships. After doing a healing treatment for a past relationship, the next phone call could be from that person! It is considered a universal healing energy. You do not need any prior experience or knowledge, just a desire to be open to receiving the attunement and to be a clear channel for sending Reiki.

During a session, you are applying the principles of Quantum Physics. Energy follows thought, and that energy can create big changes. If healing is what you want for yourself or a loved one, it can often happen right away. However, in some cases, the changes may appear to take longer because this technique is so subtle that it may take time for the changes to manifest.

The benefits of Reiki:

  • Post-traumatic stress from child abuse or war
  • Anxiety
  • Accelerate healing from surgeries
  • Panic attacks
  • Broken bones
  • Colic in Babies
  • Depression
  • Anxiety attacks
  • birth defects
  • Emotional disorders, depression, anger, ADD and ADHD

This is just to name a few of the benefits. It is not a religion and does not interfere with any other therapy. Medical advice and treatment should always be sought first, as Reiki practitioners cannot diagnose or prescribe medication.

In order to learn this technique you must receive an initiation by a Reiki Master. The attunement process can be done in person or remotely, and either is acceptable. The attunement is a process in which the Master transmits the healing symbols that were originally obtained by Dr. Usui and have been passed down through the Usui lineage. The student normally does not see what the Master is doing during the attunement process since his eyes are closed. The symbols are sacred and are only shared from one practitioner to another.
