Five cool facts about Green Bay Packers legend Bart Starr

During the 1960s, Bart Starr was one of the biggest names in soccer. He was the starting quarterback for the great Green Bay Packers teams of that era and will always be held in high esteem by fans of the team. The Packers of the 1960s won multiple championships and many players, coaches and fans attribute much of the reason to the man who runs the team on the field, Bart Starr. Starr got off to a slow start to his career, but after head coach Vince Lombardi got the team running the right way, he took over and never looked back.

-No one caught more of Bart Starr’s 152 touchdown passes than the 28 that Packers catcher Boyd Dowler caught.

-The first touchdown pass Bart Starr threw in his career was in a 17-16 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in November 1956. It was a 39-yard pass in the first quarter to Billy Howton.

-The last touchdown pass of his career was 65 yards to John Hilton in the fourth quarter of a 20-12 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on December 6, 1970.

-Only four players caught a touchdown pass from Starr and then never caught another from him: Jack Clancy, Dave Hampton, Claudis James and Joe Johnson.

-62 of Bart Starr’s 152 total touchdown passes, or just over 40 percent, were thrown for 30 yards or more.
