A Brief Background on Katharine McPhee

Launched to stardom by winning second place during the fifth season of American Idol in 2006, 23-year-old Katharine Hope McPhee is a popular American singer whose powerful voice coupled with charming girl-next-door looks have captured undiscovered admiration. only from the United States but also from the world as well.

From a very young age in Los Angeles, California, where he was born and raised, McPhee always dreamed of becoming a professional singer. With vocal coaching from her mother, Patricia Burch McPhee, she showcased her vocal prowess for the first time at the tender age of 2.

McPhee enrolled in the prestigious Boston Conservatory of Music after high school and decided to focus on singing. Even if he only attended one semester, he has greatly improved his singing skills.

After American Idol, McPhee signed with Sony BMG’s Simon Fuller and RCA Record company on June 6, 2006 and a few days later, on June 27, he released his debut single “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/My Destiny”. Unsurprisingly, both songs peaked on the Billboard Hot 100.

McPhee also toured with world-class Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli on June 9-11, 2006 during the tenor’s US tour.

McPhee has publicly confessed that he previously suffered from bulimia. She Missed the beginning of American Idols LIVE! Tour 2006 because he then also suffered from bronchitis and laryngitis. She met in Washington DC on July 28 when the ten finalists visited the White House and met with President George W. Bush.

McPhee’s career continued to grow in 2007 when his self-titled debut album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and sold over 116,000 copies in its first week. The first single “Over It” was in the Top 30.

She has been lined up for a debut feature film “The Last Caller”. This dark romantic comedy is an independent film where her character is a narcissistic woman in search of love and meaning in life. She is also reported to be starring with Anna Faris under the direction of Fred Wolf for Columbia Pictures and Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions. Her character will be a pregnant hippie.
