Blair Underwood is an American film and television actor, born on August 25, 1964 in Tacoma, Washington, DC, United States. Blair is well known for his role on the NBC legal drama series LA Law, in which he appeared as Jonathan Rollins, a headstrong attorney. In this series he played the same role for about seven years. He has won several awards, including a Grammy Award and three NAACP Image Awards. In the current years, he has starred in In Treatment, Dirty Sexy Money and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Blair was the son of Frank Underwood, who was a colonel in the US Army, and Marilyn, who was an interior decorator. Since his father was in the military, Blair lived on military bases in Stuttgart, Germany, and the United States during his childhood. He was studying in Petersburg, Virginia at Peabody High School. He later joined the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. In the year 1985, he made his feature film debut known as Krush Groove. He also had a small role on The Cosby Show, which landed him a brief stint on the ABC soap opera “One Life to Live.” He then appeared on the television series LA Law, in which he appeared from 1987 to 1994. In 1996, he appeared on Playgirl in the July issue. Blair is currently playing a leading role as President Elias Martinez in the 2010 NBC television series The Event. He has also appeared in several other television series such as City of Angels, LA Law, Mama Flora’s Family, and Murder in Mississippi.
