Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), sometimes referred to as broadband television, is becoming an increasingly popular means of receiving television programming. The process consists of sending and receiving information in “packets” of digital data. This is the same method used by the Internet and other computer networks. IPTV is growing in popularity due to these advantages over alternative television services. It is estimated that IPTV will provide service to more than 20 million homes by the year 2008.
