For those considering investing in collecting die-cast military vehicles, then tank models may be just what you’re looking for. Die-cast tank models can look great however you choose to display them and represent a large part of military vehicle history. In the United States, for example, new tanks are not produced. The older ones are sent for disassembly and then reassembled using the newest technology. By collecting the models of all the older tanks, it keeps the history of the tank alive.

Die cast models are very easy to care for. A slightly damp cloth will easily remove dust from the surface and will not harm the paint. For models that have a large amount of decals, it’s best to simply wipe them down with a lint-free cloth. Water can loosen decals so it can be difficult to reposition them correctly.

If there are openings in the model itself, you can use compressed air. Use short bursts while making sure to hold the can about six inches from the model. If you hold it too close, you may damage the model. Sometimes propellant can shoot out of cans and can cause frost damage to decals or paint if you flip the can over.

Always be sure to hold the can upright. If you’re looking for a great way to display your die cast models, then an oak or cherry bookcase can make a great display case. It’s fairly easy to add lights to the boxes by drilling holes for the bulbs and using the small decorative bulbs typically used for Christmas trees. As long as they fit into the holes with an adapter that can be easily found at a lighting store, you won’t be at risk of starting a fire.

You can also add glass to the front of the bookcase to prevent stray hands from handling your models and damaging them with the oils from their hands. Your hands contain a large amount of natural oils and it is very easy for these oils to remain on any surface you touch. Die-cast models are no exception.

Unpainted, these models can tarnish from oils. Painted models may experience damage to the paint job from oils over time. The oils can even damage any decals that may be present. By taking proper care of your die cast model tanks, you can have a great looking collection that will last a long time.
