It’s hard to find a better way to spend an afternoon than playing golf. Not only can you spend time outdoors, but you can also enjoy the rich sense of history and tradition that the game offers. Part of that tradition also extends to the locker room, and if you are new to golf courses, it is not always easy to know what the ideal golf attracts. These four tips can help you take some of the guesswork out of choosing an outfit, so you always feel comfortable and look good when visiting your favorite golf courses.

Check the rules

Before picking up your clubs, check with the facility you are playing at to see what their locker room rules are. Some courses may have very specific guidelines, such as no jeans allowed or the proper length for shorts. Familiarizing yourself with these recommendations can make it much easier to plan an outfit and make sure it doesn’t end up feeling out of place.

Get Collared

When choosing a shirt, it is always a good idea to go for a collared style to press the links. Some installations do not require them, but they are usually the preferred look for links. You can choose a button-down collar option or a polo style, depending on your preferences. In hot weather, choose a short-sleeved shirt with a collar. In cold weather, opt for a long-sleeved style. Some courses allow women to wear sleeveless shirts in hot weather, so check the guidelines before heading out.

Stay classic

Golf courses tend to have a more traditional dress code, so it is best to wear classic clothing on the green. Instead of your favorite jeans, opt for khaki pants or shorts. When wearing shorts, pay special attention to their length. Extremely short shorts are not appropriate for links, but very long styles can also look sloppy and out of place. Choose Bermuda-style shorts that reach just above the knees. Women can also opt for golf skirts instead of shorts in hot weather.

Keep your mood

To ensure maximum performance when hitting the links in hot weather, it is important to choose clothing that helps you stay cool. Choose shirts, pants, shorts, and other items that are made from lightweight, breathable materials like cotton. You can even find some pieces that are made of a knitted mesh material that wicks moisture away from the body, so if you sweat in the last nine years, you will still stay cool and dry.

keep in shape

If you play in cold or inclement weather, you will probably need a jacket or some type of rain gear to keep you warm and dry. However, when choosing golf course outerwear, opt for trimmed pieces and a snug fit. If you use pieces that are bulky or oversized, they can affect your mobility and disrupt your swing, and who wants to add shots to your game just to stay warm or dry?
