Many people enjoy watching car movies featuring classic cars, especially ones with hot rods. Here are some movies with such impressive vehicles;

american graffiti

One of the best movies of all time featuring this type of car is American Grafitti. This 1973 movie was directed by George Lucas and is still a favorite movie of many people. Although this film, set in 1962, features a number of subplots, the classic cars, including several incredible hot rods that are featured, nearly steal the show. Among the amazing cars in American Grafitti are a radical yellow two coupe, a 1956 Ford Thunderbird and a 1958 Chevrolet Impala.

smokey and the bandit

Smokey and the Bandit, released in 1977, starred Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason. Burt Reynolds drove a hot rod black Pontiac Trans Am in this film. With Jerry Reed driving a tractor trailer full of bootleg beer, Reynolds uses this Trans Am as a diversionary and surveillance vehicle. Excellent stunt driving and plenty of tire screeching is on offer in this classic car movie.

The animated set

Another great example is the 1964 movie The Lively Set, starring James Darren, Doug McClure, and Pamela Tiffin. Centered on a road race from Los Angeles, California to Las Vegas, Nevada, this movie features a turbine-powered hot rod and several other great cars. This great movie also includes a great soundtrack of surf and pop music.

long live vegas

A classic Elvis Presley film, Viva Las Vegas revolves around a Grand Prix race that takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this movie, Elvis drives a fancy British Elva car. Elvas were made for a few years in the 1950s and are highly prized by car enthusiasts and collectors around the world.

A variety of race cars and rods are featured in this 1964 film, including Ford Cobras and Ferarris. The soundtrack of this movie is also excellent.

racing cars

The title of this 1950 street racing movie really popularized the term ‘hot rod’. This film is still considered one of the best examples of this kind of journey in cinema. This movie stars Art Baker, Jimmy Lydon, Gloria Winters and Gil Stratton. A 1932 hot rod roadster is the real star of the show in this seminal film.

These are just a few of the many examples of hot rods in the movies, which are just as popular with fans today as they were back then.
