In today’s society, far fewer people have started bodybuilding and more people have started fitness model programs. Not many people want to be huge with massive biceps and a big chest anymore. Instead, they would rather have a skinny ripped physique like a cover model. How has the popularity of bodybuilding decreased in the last twenty years? I’ll show you how and why people avoid bodybuilding and how you can make a difference.

In the “Golden Age” of bodybuilding, people were fascinated with the way men can build their muscles in a way that makes people want to start bodybuilding themselves. Take a look at Eugen Sandow, the “father” of bodybuilding. He had a lean, muscular, ripped physique with crazy abdominal muscles. Other bodybuilding icons followed, including Steve Reeves, Reg Park and many other famous athletes. But the real bodybuilding craze started with Arnold Schwarzenegger, after he appeared in the bodybuilding movie “Pumping Iron.” Widely regarded as the greatest bodybuilder of all time, he made bodybuilding and himself a household name. From that time on, people opened many gyms everywhere to start bodybuilding either to turn pro or just to build muscle. Movie directors recruited bodybuilders like Arnold to star in their movies. For a long time, the era of bodybuilding was spreading throughout the world.

But what went wrong? How was this she was slowly disappearing? Easy. People started off “too big, too muscular” which made people think he looks impulsive, overbearing, and on top of that, disgusting. Bodybuilders today want to be bigger and more muscular than their opponents. Bodybuilders like Jay Cutler and Ronnie Coleman are prime examples of people who are “over the top” in their muscle growth and development. What really put an end to this era was the movie “Fight Club” with Brad Pitt, where the lean and muscular body was introduced, and people realized that you don’t have to be too big, you just have to be thin. My opinion is that men have become “feminized” i.e. they want a body that looks more attractive on a woman and people start modeling as women which is easy to understand why men today wear t-shirts roses or shirts that say “Real Men Wear Pink”. This is absurd!

Let’s talk about Arnold for a moment. Why do you think he was considered the best bodybuilder? Was it because he had the biggest muscles? Or that he had a confident presence when he stepped onto the bodybuilding stage? Maybe it could be that he gave the best advice on how to build muscle? It was any of these three reasons. In the movie “Pumping Iron” Arnold talked about having the perfect physique. He said, “You have to have the right proportions. If you look in the mirror and say, ‘Okay, I need a little more delts.’ So you would go to the gym and put on those delts. Whereas an artist would just give a slap your brush on a picture, there it is. We have to do it the hard way because we’re building the human body. Some people will look at you weird as if you’re doing something weird, but it’s not really something that a lot of people know about. And a Once you find out, you understand so much about bodybuilding that you didn’t realize before.

You will see? Arnold had the perfect proportionate body, and bodybuilding enthusiasts knew it. He differs a lot compared to today’s bodybuilders who build their bodies disproportionately. So how can you make a difference in building muscle? Get your proportions right. Let each muscle be perfect, neither smaller nor larger than it should be. I hope you enjoyed this article and that you do your best to build muscle.
