Life Coaching – Route Cause Analysis

May 25, 2022 0 Comments

Path cause analysis is something that is not used very often in Life Coaching circles, but I find it incredibly useful in helping my clients figure out exactly where they are and, in particular, the reasons why they still are. they have not been successful. Finding out the ‘real’ reasons why you haven’t been successful can be a real eye-opener and even, in some cases, a real moment when people turn on their current wrong actions and adjust them to move them towards their goals.

Have you ever really thought about the reasons why you haven’t achieved your goals? It seems a bit negative and a bit counterintuitive, but I assure you that when you discover the real reasons, a clearer path will become clear.

You will also know what actions you should not take again, sounds strange? You’d be amazed at how many people keep taking the same actions they think are the right thing to do, and yet when I do a root cause analysis with them, they realize they’ve simply been preventing themselves from being successful with those same actions!

Take some time to think about the reasons why you haven’t achieved your goals yet and you might be surprised at what you discover. However, let’s be clear on one thing: honesty is the best policy! Many people struggle to be honest with themselves and it doesn’t do them any good, it doesn’t offer them any advantage. Be honest with yourself to get the most benefit!

Start with one of your goals and ask yourself why you haven’t achieved it yet and write down the answer, eg “Why am I still not making $100.00 a year?”
The answer might be “Because I have not yet reached the position in my company to earn that.”
This is followed by another question “Why haven’t I reached the right position in my company yet?”
Follow this with the answer, for example, “Because I don’t have the right training to achieve that position yet.”
You can follow that for another why? ask and you will eventually get to the cause of the path (this shouldn’t take more than 5 Why?) and then you can start taking action to correct the cause of the path.

Finding the root cause of a problem allows you to quickly resolve it and move toward achieving your goals! By finding the inner conflict and resolving it, your ability to achieve rises higher than you can imagine.
