RVs are becoming a more attractive way to get away from home and still have the comforts of home while on the road. Several years ago, RVs were considered an affordable way to get away, more along the lines of camping. There are still motorhomes available today that fit that, however most RVs are more like a house on wheels. To better understand what is available, I will tell a little about each class of RV and list some of the manufacturers.

Luxury coaches are the most comfortable and expensive recreational vehicles on the market today. They’re built on air suspensions to provide a comfortable ride that almost floats above the road. Class A Diesel luxury coaches are manufactured up to 45 feet in length and have up to two bathrooms. Comfortable King Size Air beds provide a comfortable night’s sleep, and a full kitchen includes a microwave, stove, oven, marble or corian countertops, and even a dishwasher. Most have plasma TVs, surround sound systems, navigation systems, satellite systems on the go, so watching TV while driving down the road is only part of the luxury. The cost of luxury coaches starts at just under half a million dollars and varies by size and options up to several million dollars. Some of the luxury coach manufacturers are Prevost, Newell, Blue Bird, American Coach, Beaver, Newmar, Foretravel, Monaco and Winnebago.

Class A motorhomes are the largest and most comfortable motorhomes and include luxury coaches. Options and cost range from the luxurious models listed above to the smaller, more affordable gas RVs. All of today’s Class A motorhomes have full bathrooms, comfortable beds, full kitchens, and offer the comforts of a home away from home. They start at less than a hundred thousand dollars and go to those listed above. In addition to those listed above, some of the manufacturers include Airstream, Damon, Coachmen, Fleetwood, Gulf Stream, Holiday Rambler, Tiffin, and Thor.

Class C RVs have a van-facing front, are generally smaller than Class A. Most are gas-powered and provide similar amenities, such as full-size beds, bathrooms, kitchens, and cabin dinettes that are Convert to beds for additional sleeping. They vary in size and cost, usually starting around five thousand dollars. Most are manufactured by those listed above.

The fifth wheel is the most luxurious of the towing trailers. The Travel Trailer is also a trailer unit that is very similar to fifth wheel trailers. Many have king- or queen-size beds, full baths, kitchens, and sofas that convert to beds for extra sleeping. They vary in size and cost around twenty thousand dollars. In addition to those already mentioned, some of the manufacturers are Forest River, Four Winds, Jaco, Keystone, Leisure Travel and Travel Supreme.

There are many different models and types of camping vehicles and trailers on the market today, I have tried to list and give some details and descriptions of some of them.
