They are independent clauses, each of which can stand on its own.
It is a mistake to run them together. The easiest way to show your independence and correct the mistake is to put a period after the first, making each one explicitly a separate sentence.
Don’t forget to capitalize the first word of the second independent clause, which you have now converted to an independent sentence.
