Sound insulation materials: an effective noise blocker

There are plenty of times you probably could have used a noise blocker, right? Whether it’s in your home, apartment, office, or studio, unwanted noise has likely been a problem and perhaps even caused arguments among the people you live, work, or practice with.

When annoying noise stands between you and the peace you deserve, you may want to turn to soundproofing materials. Sound insulation materials are different from sound absorbing materials, which is an important distinction when choosing which product to purchase as a muffler. Soundproofing materials work to prevent sound from traveling through walls, floors, ceilings, and windows, while sound-absorbing materials are used to absorb echoes and reverberation within a room. When looking for a noise blocker that will stop sound from entering and leaving a room, soundproofing materials are most likely your best bet.

Although there are literally hundreds of noise suppressors, soundproofing is one of the most effective. Due to its high STC rating, sound insulation made from all-natural and recycled rubber tires proves to be a creative solution to noise problems. Soundproofing is sold in rolls and sheets and can be applied by fastening them between drywall framing. Although this is the most typical application, others have used soundproofing on their windows, doors, and even their cars to reduce noise and vibration.

One important thing to keep in mind is that soundproofing is not a general process that has a direct answer in terms of how much soundproofing materials need to be purchased to produce the change you are looking for. Instead, soundproofing your room is based on many individual factors, such as the dimensions of your room or how many doors and windows you have in your space.
