Boost your immune system at home

During these difficult times, a strong immune system is more important than ever. I’d like to touch on some ways you can help your body fight the never-ending viral battle.

There are many ways to help your body with its innate ability to protect itself. Many of these can be done simply by changing a few clothes.

Our bodies are much like a complex recipe. Omitting or shortening just one ingredient can drastically alter the result. Your body is no different. If we are low or missing a specific “ingredient”, we are not allowing it to be the best it can be.

Helping the body defend itself against viral or bacterial invasions requires optimal training and fuel. I’d like to suggest some ways to help you fight off the onslaught of viral invaders.

Food/Diet

What you put into your body is essentially what you get out of it. Be sure to refrain from eating too many processed foods and go back to eating raw fruits and vegetables. A healthy diet is a great way to strengthen your immune system.

Water

Believe it or not, water is a great way to maintain and boost your immune system! The right amount of water will help prevent bacteria and viruses from congregating in your sinuses, nose, or mouth.

working out

Exercise is one of those things that sometimes you can have “too much of a good thing.” Good, intense exercise is a great way to keep your body and immune system strong. But, too much exercise when you’re sick or feeling exhausted will actually weaken your immune system.

asleep

This is very important. If your body is sleep deprived, it becomes weaker and makes you susceptible to disease. Try not to expose yourself to light from a TV, phone, or computer during rest periods. Also, most studies have shown that we need between 7 and 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Vitamins/Supplements

These are just a few tips that can help you stay strong and healthy during stressful times. If I can be of help please let me know.

There are at least 3 main vitamins that you’ll want to make sure you’re getting enough of. Vitamins C, B6, and E have been shown to boost immune function. I also suggest you consider vitamin D and zinc.
