The basic instinct

The basic survival instinct has always been the dominant force in life. A trait given by God to survive is embedded in all living things. Humans are not the rarest creatures in nature. But what we do have is a higher level of intellectual abilities. There again, you would never know from the actions of others. It is our ability to acquire intellectual powers through parental guidance and influence, by the way we adapt to the environment around us, and by the education we receive as we age. Unfortunately, a few remain today who have shown a delay, a decline in their mental faculties in response to events, crises, and circumstances that are sometimes beyond their control.

It is not more evident in the leadership that we have or are about to have. In anticipation of the 2020 presidential election in the midst of this current global health crisis, there are many factors that could show man’s ability to overcome adversity and yet all we have seen in the actions of our leaders is a contraction of intellectual capacities. The case for survival has already been made. Still, the answers that have been given have shown that our possibilities are slipping away. The world is a tinder box while too many are kept in the dark not knowing that the decisions made for us do not and will not alleviate the suffering of so many millions.

Man may be at the top of the food chain, but again, we would never know from the way things are happening today. The struggle to survive continues despite government assurances that all is well. No consolation for those millions who have lost so much. Because they will never get back everything they lost. The charity of others towards the less fortunate remains a bright spot in an otherwise dark world. But charity alone will not solve what has become bad government decisions and policies.

For years, government policies, especially regarding our food supply chain, have caused millions of people to have weakened immune systems. With a weakened immune system, people are more likely to be susceptible to all kinds of diseases and afflictions. Other government policies that have a direct influence on the public’s ability to survive are disastrous economic decisions over the years that have left millions of Americans unable to afford even the basic necessities of life. If we had a lot of what is happening today, we could have prevented it.

The industrialization of the world’s food and limited access to clean, contaminant-free fresh water has made populations more prone to all forms of horrible and devastating disease, food, and affliction. The pandemic facing the world today could very well never have passed an epidemic stage if the government had implemented the policies and reforms that ensure the health and safety of the public as its primary responsibility. Unfortunately, many of the policies in place today are designed for monetary concerns and not for the general public benefit.
