The Best-Selling Digital Cameras That Won’t Disappoint

Learning from those who have come before you is always a smart strategy. Because, as those who ignore the past say, they are doomed to repeat it. That goes for mountaineering, nuclear warfare, and buying digital cameras. A strange combination of efforts to be sure, but a universal truth is indeed universal. So, if you’re looking for the best digital camera you can get, it makes a lot of sense to consider what those who came before you decided to buy.

Why not benefit from their wisdom, research, and decision-making acumen? The nice thing about having the internet these days is how easy it is to get these kinds of stats for just about anything. It doesn’t have to be digital cameras, it could be anything. In addition, it is also quite easy to get fairly up-to-date information. Amazon, for example, lists top-selling items for several of its product lines, with digital cameras being just one of them.

As of this writing, the top ten best-selling digital cameras in order from one to ten are the Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder, Canon PowerShot SD750, Norcent DCC 725, Canon PowerShot SD870IS, Canon PowerShot A590IS, Canon PowerShot SD850IS, Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5, Canon EOS 40D, Canon PowerShot G9 and Canon PowerShot SD1000.

Now don’t start accusing me of showing favoritism towards Canon, I’m just reporting the facts as I see them. And yes, Amazon sells other cameras besides Canon. In fact, they sell just about every camera manufacturer you can think of. That includes, but is not limited to, Sony, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Panasonic, Kodak, Sanyo, and Sharp. There’s more, but I think you get the idea.

Canon is just a very dominant player, when it comes to camera sales at every level. Levels and types actually. They just look to have a bigger model lineup than anyone else. That includes compact cameras, ultra-compact cameras, underwater cameras, SLR cameras, camera lenses, etc., etc. These guys know cameras. So if you’re going to base your buying decision on the best sellers above, you’ll probably do pretty well with Canon. They make something for anyone’s budget.

That’s not to say that the others aren’t good cameras, because they are. In fact, another manufacturer may be a better option for you. Some manufacturers prefer to specialize in a certain niche. Kodak, for example, does not make SLR cameras. So if you’re looking for more of a compact digital camera, Kodak may have more to offer.
