Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers began their NBA history as the Buffalo Braves in 1970. The name was changed to the Clippers when the team moved to San Diego. The name, chosen from a contest, references the city’s history as a port for the Clipper ships and the Star of India, which was still housed in San Diego. The name stuck when they moved to Los Angeles.

During his Braves days, the team sported a sky blue look. After moving west to San Diego and renaming themselves the Clippers, the uniform changed to a slightly different shade of blue while adding “SAN DIEGO” to the front. Upon moving to Los Angeles, the Clips changed the light blue to a very dark navy blue and dropped the city name from the large “Clippers” on the front. The team then ditched the blue for a flashy red ensemble in 1986. With a few seasons in Los Angeles under their belt, they took pride in their base and emblazoned “LOS ANGELES” on the front of their uniform. But the Clips got the team nickname on the front again in 1988. The current Clippers uniform stays true to the old one, but with a little more blue on the side, reminiscent of the blue of the Braves. The team’s logo shows “Los Angels Clippers” written in blue lettering going through a red basketball. The official team colors are red, white and blue.

The Los Angeles Lakers have proven to be one of the greatest teams in the NBA since the 1960s. With NBA Hardwood Classic Nights, the Los Angeles Lakers have been wearing some of the old jerseys to honor the early NBA teams. But there really isn’t much difference between the old and new jerseys, only minor changes have been made and purple and gold colors have been adopted.

Let’s take a look at Los Angeles Lakers jerseys through the years. In the early 1960s, George Mikan led the Lakers to 5 NBA titles. The colors used on the jerseys before were white and light blue with yellow trim along the way. Before, being the Los Angeles Lakers, this team was called the Minneapolis Lakers.

The next jersey is even bolder with a new serving of colour. They abandoned the light blue color and opted for a darker navy blue. They also changed the way the team name is written, before it was plain and changed it to a hyphenated form. The LA Script is what the current team will wear when they go retro.

In the late 1960s, the Lakers adopted the colors purple and gold. And this color scheme has lasted for more than two decades. Only some modification was made in the numbers. In the 1980s, the font color is purple, and there were some changes in the font style.

When it was Shaquille’s time with the Lakers, the jerseys were mostly done in gold. Showing off your back-to-back championships with this color. But of course, the purple and white color is still evident. Currently, they have a white home jersey. As of the 2008 season, the Lakers are still wearing their purple jerseys while wearing the white jerseys at home games.
