Summer is beach and pool time; sun and umbrellas, hammock but those of you who have babies at home well know that at the beginning of this time of year you have to be extremely careful. If the increase in temperature, UV rays or water affects adults, what effect can they have on the little ones in the house?

Today we want to share with you a series of basic tips to go to the beach with babies. They are sure to be useful to you.

Matter of age
The big question for many parents is, “at what age can I take my baby to the beach?” Although there is no exact answer, there are many approximate and approximate ones. In this sense, the skin of babies in their first months of age is very sensitive. The effect of the sun, the abrasion of hot sand, sweat or sea salt can cause irritations.

In this sense, we recommend that you wait at 10 months of age to take yourself to the beach for the first time.

Time is the key
The time when the most sunlight hits and the UV rays do the most damage is between 11:00 noon and 5:00 in the afternoon. We recommend that your visits to the beach with your baby are always at times outside of these periods. and never extend these beach times more than 80-90 minutes.

The complete kit
When you are planning your first trip to the beach with your baby, the basic kit that you should bring includes the following items:

Spare clothes, towels and diapers.
Cream for chafing and irritation.
Sunscreen with physical filter.
Baby bottle with milk, water and pieces of fruit in an insulated bag.
Toys and teethers / pacifiers …
A car for children.

Protection
Obviously, you must make sure that your baby’s skin is fully protected. Thus, children older than six months can use specific sunscreen for babies, with the highest level of protection, water resistant and, preferably, a physical filter. Unlike sunscreens with chemical filters, they do not absorb the components and do not harm sensitive skin.

Also, cover your legs and arms with shirts and pants made of transparent cotton or breathable fabrics (never synthetic). Never forget your hat and that it is as long as possible under the umbrella, both in the towel and in the seat of your car, when you take it out for a walk.

Hydration at all times
Babies tend to stay well hydrated with available breast milk, although it is advisable to carry an insulated bag with the water bottle, as well as (for slightly older babies) slices and pieces of fruit (tangerines, orange, melon pieces), nectarine. ..) rich in water and fresh. Keep in mind that the smaller a baby is, the more at risk they are for dehydration.
