Third, terrorism has also compounded the USPS’s current problems. The destruction of a post office near the World Trade Center during the 9/11 attack caused the USPS to lose $60 million in damages. Also, the presence of anthrax-laden letters has caused several people to go in the opposite direction.

The problems of the USPS system have devastating effects for thousands of employees who work under it. Of the 400 USPS-owned facilities across the country, more than 100 are being closed. Of the total USPS workforce, 15% will be laid off. And early retirement is offered to 150,000 employees. It is such a tragic situation to materialize considering the fact that these employees not only exist for themselves, but also have their families with them.

The Board of Governors behind the USPS has come together to plan actionable solutions and actions to prevent organization costs from skyrocketing and organization revenue from declining. USPS has deliberation, designed to improve your dire situation. USPS plans to reduce delivery days from six to five days. The introduction of hybrid mail items, including email delivery, has been proposed, along with amending the union agreement to provide the USPS with more labor flexibility and reduce health insurance contribution.

According to the survey, 58% of the 18-34 age group and 73% of the 55+ age group have accepted the plan if the postage stamp does not continue to increase and if it helps the USPS save money.

Many people want the USPS to reduce the price of postage stamps. But then the USPS proposes to increase the postage stamp price to 3 percent for this year and 10 percent for next year with the ultimate goal of increasing revenue. However, this proposal has found an automatic and resounding contradiction on the part of the people. Hopefully USPS will find a way to do it.

The USPS early retirement program offered to its employees has also faced a number of opposition from employees, especially those who are members of The American Postal Workers Union. The group defends that retirement is a personal matter and should not be forced.

There are countless critics surrounding the USPS’s proposal to improve its financial condition in order to continue to exist despite stiff competition.
