You are ruined? It’s time to re-evaluate your MLM program(s) and do an honest self-assessment

There I was on stage harmonizing with my band members. With each note he suffered in silent desperation. I was totally broke. Sucked in too many Multi-Level Marketing membership fees that had hit the old checking account, leading to a large number of non-sufficient funds charges.

Yeah, there I was pickin ‘n grinnin, several thousand dollars in debt to the bank. Eight months before tonight, I thought I had found an MLM sponsor who actually cared more about building a good team than making a quick buck.

Now, I felt just as rocked as the Fender imitation Strat I’d been strumming. It was so easy to believe that he and my other upline would help me “build a network.” Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to fire the boss within 48 hours of submitting the application fee?

After all, the people involved in the MLM opportunity must be doing something right if they can afford the flashy ads. And what about all those photos of people on the beach or standing in front of expensive luxury sports cars?

Well, actually I live on an island myself. I can go to the beach and walk on the sand at any time of the day or night. And as for the posh ride, I once took a snapshot of my co-worker as she stood grinning from ear to ear next to a caramel apple red Dodge Viper. I have seen evidence on many other occasions that there is no magic in appearing to have a million dollars in assets.

Standing on stage, I made a silent commitment to stop feeling miserable and refocus on the one thing I’d really been successful at: selling affiliate products online.

I also made a silent commitment to let other people know about my recklessness. Perhaps as you read this you will consider your own situation. If you are earning more income than the fees you pay to be a member of your MLM program(s), and you are satisfied with the leadership of your sponsor and downline, by all means they will continue to do so. You have obviously found something that suits you.

If, on the other hand, you consider yourself lucky that cement shoes stick around after Labor Day 1945, then maybe this article will give you a little push. What I mean is, if you’re paying money to be part of someone else’s downline and you don’t have your own paying downline, what you need to do is turn things around now, and fast! If you’re determined to get an active downline, don’t wait for your upline sponsor or team to do anything more than immediately put money in your pocket.

Conversely, if you are having trouble convincing others to become active, paying members of your team or downline, then either leave the program or get over the fear. Seriously ask yourself this question: “Am I earning money after the first 90 days of enrollment?”

No, 90 days is not too early to judge your own personal success. With some programs, you have up to 90 days to quit. Realistically, how much more can you accomplish in day 91 than you couldn’t accomplish in the first 60? Focus your attention on making money by doing an honest self-assessment first before you lose your credit privileges, lose face with the bank, and take a hit to your self-esteem. Everything counts, ultimately, in large quantities.
